It is made of heavy brass with a nice patina and would look stunning in any home. The hinge works perfectly and the slot opens very smoothly. This item is in good condition with normal patina. The interior of the handle on the front of the mail slot, however, has deteriorated somewhat. Please see the close up photograph of that portion.
